Description: Maderno was witness to the finding of S. Cecilia's body whole and uncorrupted in 1599, and was commissioned to make a record of the body, as it had been found, in marble. An inscription to one side of the floor is Maderno's testimony of this. Detail of the hands.

Interpretation: An unconfirmed local myth claims that th e gesture of her hands signified three and one, her undying faith in the Holy Trinity and the one true God.
