Subject

Description: In the top register, Christ reaches through a window towards the Sponsa who sits indoors. In the second register, Christ leads the Sponsa out of the building towards an area with a lattice window. In the bottom register, Christ and the Sponsa pick fruits and flowers in a garden.

Interpretation: 5 scenes on folios 23r and 25r depict the mystical encounter between Christ and the soul. First Christ calls on the soul, like a lover seeking a reconciliation, but the soul is overcome and flees. In this image, Christ is reconciled with the soul. The wall is like a barrier of sin separating man from Christ. In the second register, Christ taking the soul out of her enclosure represents the soul's separation from the sinful body.
