Historical Context

The convent of Lüne created several large woolen embroideries following the internal reform of the convent and subsequent spiritual revival in the fifteenth century. It is interesting to note that the nuns replicated the architecture of their convent in the king's chamber. In particular, the tile floor is reminiscent of the tile floors in the nuns' choir and elsewhere in the convent.
