Prioress of Thetford, 1420
Nun
Benedictine
In 1438, while Alice was prioress at Thetford, she was involved in a protracted lawsuit with the rector of Ling, Robert Popy. The dispute was over how much rent the rector owed the prioress, who had let out some lands and a chapel (which the nuns had brought with them to Thetford after their move from Ling) to the rector. The suit was decided by the King who ordered the prioress to give over the chapel and the premises to the rector and his successors , who in return paid an annual pension of 4 marks.
