The community was said to have been founded by Saint Werburgh, with Hanbury and Threekingham. In 1034 the site was used again for the foundation of the male abbey of S. Mary BecHellouin, which later became known as Weedon Beck.

State Of Medieval Structure
 

The Saxon foundation was said to have been destroyed by the Danes sometime in the ninth century. Nothing remains of the later medieval foundation of Weedon Beck, which was ceded to Eton College after the dissolution of the monasteries.

The monks of the Norman abbey of Bec held the property at the time of the Domesday Survey in the late 11th century; it is not certainly whether it was ever inhabitated by monks.
