This Benedictine female house was founded circa 880/898 in Kaufungen. It remained here until the tenth century, at which time it was transferred to Gehrden.
The Bibliothek der Gesamthochschule in Kassel contains a gradual from this house, dating circa 1014/24, #Theol. 4o15. A fragmentary text of Bonifatius, written in the eighth century, may have belonged to this house as well. This mansucript is housed in the Archiv des ritterschaftl. Stiftes Kaufungen in Oberkaufungen, sine numero.
Handschriftenerbe des Deutschen Mittelalters, vol. 1, p. 390.
Final dissolution of this house occurred in 1527.
Only two literary works from this house survive. (see manuscript sources)
Further research is necessary.
