This community was originally established circa 1117-1118 for Augustinian canons. Circa 1143 the community was transformed into a community of Premonstratensian nuns, which it remained until 1803.
The Hauptstaatsarchiv in Düsseldorf contains a fragmentary cartulary from the convent, circa 15th c., #B. 187. The Historisches Archiv in Cologne also possesses a cartulary, written after 1482, sine numero, and a fragmentary necrology dating from the fourteenth century, also sine numero.
