This community of Premonstratensian women was intially established in Bremen in 1169. From 1170-1196 the women adhered to the Premonstratensian order. In 1196 the sisters were transferred to Rumbeck and the community continued in the Cistercian convent of Marienthal from 1196 until its dissolution in 1804.
